Again - there are a lot of possibilities. Or the casual game sequel could be a follow-up to any number of Nintendo DS or 3DS titles, as opposed to a sequel to a Switch game. It could also theoretically be Arms 2, but that game certainly had more proponents than 1-2-Switch. One of the leading guesses is that it could be a sequel to 1-2-Switch, a title that received a hard shrug from critics. It’s anyone’s guess what this casual game sequel on Nintendo Switch could be, but the fact that Rogers says she doubts it “will win over many new fans” implies this is not a massively anticipated title. I doubt this sequel will win over many new fans. I'm curious to see the critical reception to an upcoming casual game. I don't expect any major gaps in the release schedule.

What makes this year interesting is how many Nintendo games are either finished or near-finished.

Yet there are inevitably even more Nintendo games where that came from, and according to industry insider Emily Rogers, a sequel to a “casual game” may arrive on Switch in 2022 as well. And the earth-shattering megaton that is the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is speculated to be arriving toward the end of the year. Splatoon 3, PlatinumGames’ Bayonetta 3, Ubisoft’s Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, and Square Enix’s Chocobo GP are all coming at some point this year. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is expected not long after that. Square Enix’s Triangle Strategy and Kirby and the Forgotten Land launch in March. Pokémon Legends: Arceus launches in two weeks.

Nintendo has a lot of coals in the fire as far as 2022 Nintendo Switch games.
